300 km from the city, there is a truly amazing place — Altyn-Emel National Park. It is a great plain surrounded on all sides by mountains. Altyn-Emel National Park contains many attractions, one of which is the Singing Dunes (Singing Barkhan) — a unique natural phenomenon on the right bank of the Ili River. The dune is famous because, in dry weather, the moving sand emits a deep sound resembling an organ melody. A wide variety of wildlife lives in the national park. The landscape resembles a semi-desert, and the animals living here are perfectly adapted to the arid climate.

The Aktau Mountains are also located within the national park. These stunning volcanic rock formations resemble a colorful lunar landscape in the middle of the desert, made up of vibrant layers of red, white, and yellow clay.

A 700-year-old willow tree stands between the Singing Dunes and the Aktau Mountains. It is nourished by an underground spring that forms a small pool next to the tree.

Altyn-Emel National Park is a wonderful destination where you can spend plenty of time exploring all of its natural wonders.

For all visitors, the park offers a range of hotels equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Traditional guest yurts are also available. Upon request, personal cooks can prepare a variety of delicious local dishes for you.
